gives me direction.

gives me perspective.

Music-

One of my
best friend’s dad
was
a radio DJ in Chicago.  

He passed down
an amazing collection
of music
when he died.  

My dad gave me
every Dylan vinyl
up to the late 70’s.  

Rock & Roll

War-

My Grandfather
trekked
all over North Africa
and Southern Europe
in the Second Great War.  

He contracted Malaria
and suffered his whole life
and he
didn’t blame anyone
but
circumstance.  

My father served
during
Vietnam
and
The First Gulf War
as
an engineer.  

Men of duty and honor.  
What they say goes.  
Leaders of our tribe
as I will be one day.  

I have big shoes to fill.
