Description
The Artist, The Alchemist, & The Addict
A book of poetry and illustration by Benjamin Bardot.
The Artist, The Alchemist, & The Addict is a compact artist book about the strange machinery of creation—the places where love, obsession, art, sacrifice, and transformation become difficult to separate.
Divided into fourteen sections, the book follows three figures living within the same creative consciousness: the Artist, who seeks to turn experience into something lasting; the Alchemist, who searches endlessly for the formula that might make sense of it; and the Addict, who can never quite stop wanting more.
What begins as a proposition becomes an experiment in devotion. The three voices argue, collaborate, betray one another, and ultimately sacrifice themselves to the work. Poetry moves through images of medicine, mythology, alchemy, astrology, painting, obsession, and death as the book asks what it means to give oneself completely to creation—and what might be left afterward.
Written and illustrated by Benjamin Bardot, the book was created and published in Tucson, Arizona, in 2026 under the independent imprint Saffron & Silt Press.
